A Word From The Headteacher!
Welcome To St Bernadette’s RC Primary School!
Whether you are a parent interested in our school as a potential place for your own son or daughter to come to, or simply have a passing or curious interest, you are very welcome, as indeed you will be if any interested parent wishes to visit our school.
St Bernadette’s is, quite simply, a beautiful environment for learners for both children and adults alike. We are a Catholic school, with a most distinctive mission, vision and purpose. Our greatest assets are the children themselves, who are a delight to be with. Happiness and love are prevalent in this school and behaviour is outstanding! We are proud of the interpersonal relationships in place here. Children are warm and friendly and behavior and manners are outstanding. It is a place where children are happy, want to come to, and a place where adults also find immense joy and job satisfaction.
We are proud of this school and its community. We are regarded as an outstanding school and we are certainly aspirational in wishing to be a school seen as Catholic education at its very best. We also have a skilled team of staff working for the good of the children and school. I joined this team as the new Head Teacher on 1st September 2017, whilst Mr. Proctor began as new Deputy Head Teacher in 2016. We are supported by two gifted and experienced Assistant Head teachers. Thus, a new and very experienced leadership team is in place and the level of motivation is very high. The parental and parish community is second to none as a very active, supportive and warm community. We are very blessed and relationships across this community are healthy and strong.
We consider this school to be a genuine partnership with several groups all working for the good of the children. We value these groups and the close interests and relationships they share. The main Partnership Groups are:
- The School
- The Parish of St Bernadette & St Michael
- The Home (Parents)
- The Local Community
- The Salford Diocese
- The Local Authority
From a child’s perspective, it is the Home/School /Parish Partnership which is the most readily recognized, and which has the most impact on each child’s development. As a Catholic school we have the highest of expectations and drive ourselves hard to be an example of Catholic education at its very best. As you will discover from this website, this vision for the school has brought about achievement and success and provides for a great deal of healthy activity. We believe in a holistic approach, in which children grow in all aspects of their development - Educationally, Spiritually, Physically and Socially. Indeed, the school seeks to provide for every child in many ways and does so expecting each and every child to achieve to his or her own individual best.
Every child, no matter what their ability, will have success celebrated and the progress they make recognized. The school actively seeks to ensure that individual needs are met and that every adult seeks to use their own God given talents, to enable each child to achieve and realize their own God given talents in a school where happiness and well-being is just as important as their learning. In providing for our children, we have high, but realistic expectations upon them in all that they do. We also try to be witnesses to Christ for them in our relationships, our behaviours and examples we set as adults for them. We remind ourselves that Christ is our role model and invisible teacher in every classroom. Not surprisingly perhaps, St Bernadette’s is a very popular and oversubscribed school.
If our school and community appeals to you, or if you are interested, please check out this website for further information.
